オフ会に集まったのは皆さん英語圏出身の方々でした。
The people who gathered for the meetup were all from English-speaking countries.
Ceux qui sont venus à cette rencontre hors ligne venaient tous de pays anglophones.
語学談義（日本語の難しいところ、日本で見かける面白い英語等々）の中で最も印象に残ったのは、次の発言でした。
Among the discussions about language (difficult aspects in Japanese, funny English expressions found in Japan, etc.), the comment that struck me the most was the following:
Parmi des discussions sur les langues (des points difficiles du japonais, des expressions anglaises rigolottes qu'ils voient au Japon, etc.), ce qui m'a marqué le plus, c'est la remarque suivante.
「日本に住むなら日本語を学ぶのは当然」
"If you live in Japan, it's natural to learn Japanese".
« Si l'on habite au Japon, il est naturel d'apprendre le japonais. »
英語が母語の方に言われると、妙に説得力があるように思います。
When it comes from a native English speaker, it's somehow more convincing!
Lorsque cela vient d'un locuteur natif anglais, elle est curieusement convaincante !

それで、先日書店に行った時に購入してしまいました。
So, I ended up buying it the other day when I went to the bookstore.
C'est pour ça que j'ai fini par l'acheter l'autre jour quand je suis allée à la librairie.

There are plenty of titles that look really interesting.
